Worth knowing

That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.

We provide independent Trane duct cleaning and repair across Northridge, and the one thing that sets our work here apart is knowing what those post-1994 rebuilds did to the ductwork feeding your system. Why Northridge Residents Choose Us for Trane Service

Roy Castellanos, who leads our crew, got his first HVAC training at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and has spent years working in the valley heat that punishes every duct system by midsummer. We know Trane’s XR and XV lines the way a mechanic knows a specific engine family, and we know what Northridge attics do to them. Flex ducts collapse under stored boxes. Ash from the Santa Susana Pass settles into return plenums. Undersized returns strain variable-speed blowers until they fail. A generic duct cleaner won’t spot the kink starving your XR14. We will, because we’ve pulled the same kink out of a dozen Northridge ranches this year alone. We’re part of the Garrison Partners family, and every job carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. See our full Trane sales & service overview for how we handle other Trane work across the valley.

Common Trane Air Duct Cleaning Problems We Solve in Northridge

  • Collapsed and kinked flex ducts starving Trane XR heat pumps. Northridge attics are hot, tight, and full of stored belongings. A 40-foot flex run that gets crushed by holiday boxes cuts airflow to the air handler, the evaporator coil ices up, and the system short-cycles. We repair or replace the run and restore airflow the same visit.
  • Wildfire ash and Santa Ana dust packed into evaporator coils. Trane’s all-aluminum Spine Fin coils are efficient, but they don’t shed ash on their own. When a coating of fire residue builds up, heat transfer drops and the compressor runs hotter than it should. We deep-clean the coil and confirm pressures return to spec.
  • Variable-speed blower motor failure from dust bypassing a clogged filter. Trane XV systems move a lot of air, and when the filter is plugged, the ECM module overheats. We see this more in Northridge than coastal cities because the dust load is so much heavier. Cleaning the ducts and replacing the filter is a lot cheaper than replacing that motor.
  • Whistling returns from undersized post-quake ductwork. Many Northridge homes rebuilt after 1994 got rushed HVAC installs with returns too small for Trane’s high-CFM blowers. The motor strains, the return whistles, and efficiency tanks. We can often add or enlarge a return to give the blower room to breathe.
  • Condensate drain lines clogged with attic debris. Trane air handlers pull humidity out of the air, and that water has to go somewhere. When Northridge dust clogs the drain line, water backs up and leaks onto attic insulation. We clear the line and check the pan while we’re already in there.

Trane Service in Northridge: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Here’s something you won’t read on a generic Trane page. Northridge’s building stock is dominated by single-story ranch homes thrown up between 1950 and 1980, then a huge number of them got rebuilt quickly after the 1994 earthquake. Those rebuilds happened fast, and HVAC was often the corner being cut. We regularly find flexible duct runs that are 30, 40, even 50 feet long with no support straps, snaking through attics above neighborhoods near Nordhoff Street and Reseda Boulevard. Long runs mean more surface area for dust, more places to sag, and more airspeed loss before conditioned air ever reaches the register. Combine that with undersized return plenums and you get what we saw on Lassen Street near Northridge Academy last fall: a Trane XR14 heat pump running full tilt while the upstairs hallway stayed warm, plus a dusty smell coming through the vents. Our video inspection found a 40-foot flex run crushed by boxes and a return plenum packed with Saddleridge Fire ash. We repaired the flex, sealed the plenum with mastic, and cleaned the evaporator coil. Airflow jumped 60% and the short-cycling stopped. That’s not a Trane defect. That’s a Northridge install that needed correcting.

Trane Models & Products We Service in Northridge

We work on the Trane equipment Northridge homes actually have. That’s the XR series (XR13, XR14, XR15 heat pumps and air conditioners), the variable-speed XV series (XV18, XV20i), S-series gas furnaces (S9V2, S9X2), and RunTru by Trane entry-level systems. For critical components like blower motors, control boards, and coil replacements, we use OEM Trane parts so the fit and function are exact. For ducting, sealing, and insulation, we use commercial-grade aftermarket materials that meet or exceed OEM specifications, and we’ll tell you honestly when a repair is the better call over replacement. A duct that can be sealed and insulated properly doesn’t need to be replaced, and we won’t sell you one.

Trane Service Pricing in Northridge

Air Duct Cleaning - Northridge for a typical ranch runs between $450 and $850, depending on the number of vents, the length of the runs, and how much dust and ash have accumulated. If we find collapsed flex ducts or leaking plenums during the cleaning, duct repair and sealing typically adds $250 to $600. Evaporator coil cleaning runs $200 to $450, and it’s usually best done at the same time as the duct work since the system is already open. The price is written down before we start, and it doesn’t move at the door. Call (661) 523-0295 for a free estimate based on your system.
